I appreciate the article about avoiding Administrator privileges.  I don't use Administrator privileges unless I truly need them.  I have been using the RunAs command when I need to do something quick.  I cannot however execute Explorer in a RunAs window; at least nothing happens.  If I execute Explorer in a regular command prompt, a new window is created as expected.  Nothing happens however in a RunAs window.  If anyone knows how to open an Explorer window that has the privileges provided by a RunAs window then that would be very useful.

Thank you.

I should have searched for that.  The answer is of course not expected.  It seems bizarre that Microsoft says to terminate Explorer in the manner they say.  It is unfortunate that Explorer is integrated into Windows as much as it is.  This is another item in a list of items that justifies creation of an alternative to Explorer.

I haven't tried it though perhaps running the desktop (shell) explorer as a separate process MAY make this more viable. Then again, determining which explorer process to terminate would be a bit of a crap shoot I suspect.

It will be fun to try various things.

I am slightly familiar with the ability to create additional desktops and I think that multiple users (fast switching?) uses that ability.  So another possibility might be to create an additional desktop.

With a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
