In short, the goal of Gł Solutions is in the title. We attempt to define technology in easily understood terms.
From the end-user to the entrenched and battle scarred professional - we all have questions. And answers.
We attempt to answer these questions - in a round-about fashion - as this: "How can technology help?"

Perhaps:

Web Development:

  • Markup Languages
  • Dynamic Languages/Scripting
  • Databases
  • General

Markup being - HTML, XHTML, XML, XAML, with CSS and CSS2, etc being included.
Dynamic Languages being - VBScript, ASP, PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby, ActionScript, etc...
Databases being - MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, flatfile, etc...
General being - Everything not covered in the above....

If it grew then it could be split so that the various lower level categories would be child boards of the main categories.

Thoughts? Opinions? Additions? Not a vote - just a general starting to think about it at the project level and wanting to ensure that we have the participation AND skillsets here to handle such. I don't know everything - I don't even pretend to know everything regardless of what some people might tell you - so this isn't something I can handle all on my own.

It dives headlong out of the typical OS/IT genre. It's an idea - it was in the last incarnation of this forum though not as a dedicated section quite like that. It might be worth doing if it helps, the goal is (ideally) to provide a single stop for help resources, kind of a mini-community of sorts that is nothing at all like the more popular communities that there are today. I am not capable of "controlling" nor have I time to "own" such a project or group but I'm capable of provisioning and I enjoy watching things like this grow. So we'll have to see, perhaps others have some feedback?

Later... I don't know when... I'm going to TRY to create an interesting mod for SMF or see if it is even possible. We'll see how well that works in attracting folks. Wink
