I did a test run on the backup software by Acronis. After I uninstalled it during a reboot when the system bios is loading now a black screen comes up that say's "Loading Acronis...... (lots more text) " and the PC stalls for about 15 seconds before continuing. How can I clean this off the system?

I would boot to the recovery console and run /fixboot and /fixmbr and that SHOULD take care of it for you. (This is KGIII but not at home at the moment. I should be home tomorrow night. Thus I am not using my own hardware at the moment.)

Nope..  didn't do anything to resolve the issue...  I really hate it when trial programs don't fully uninstall and leave tracks all over your PC.  Angry

Did you run BOTH the /fixboot and /fixmbr from the RC? If so and it is still no good then I actually know someone I can contact to ask about this.

I ran FIXBOOT and then I ran FIXMBR, but on FIXMBR I stopped as there was a stern warning that I may lose all control of my boot partition if I did something wrong.

You shouldn't lose any data or have anything major issues. I will contact someone at Acronis or some of the MVPs who use the software to have 'em take a look at this thread either tonight or early tomorrow morning. I am just getting home so I am getting situated only to have to leave again in about 10 minutes and I will likely be gone for the duration of the evening but, hopefully, I will return.
