I'm trying to get rid of all traces of Kaspersky (6. 0) from my machine in order for Avast to run properly.  Currently, whenever I start up, I get an error message that not all of Avast's services will function because Kaspersky is still running.

Here's the background: a friend installed kaspersky for me a while ago, and I've removed it under Add/Remove programs.  It still shows up in my C:\Program Files in its own folder, however.  I can't delete this folder, and there's no uninstall file.  I'm getting this error message [can I post a screenshot in here?]:

"Cannot delete ArcSession: Access is denied
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use. "

So I go to task manager, and as far as i can discern the file is not currently in use.
I've also looked in services, and Kaspersky is listed.  It's set to manual startup, but I can't change anything about it-- access is denied.

What do I do next? I feel like I'm overlooking something simple.

Welcome to the forum and sorry for the wait. We have consulted the computer gods and they say:

Go to Start > Run > Type in "services.msc" > hit enter > kavsvc, or it may be called Kaspersky Anti-Virus > right click, stop it, and then disable it.

Hope this helps. Let us know if it doesnt.
