I haven't any complaints or issues recommending OpenOffice for home users. It's a great application. With businesses standardized on Microsoft Office and their proprietary technology the lack of interoperability it makes it hard to recommend for enterprise class solutions still.

I'm downloading Office 2k7 off MSDN at the moment. I'll likely take a moment to poke at the capacity to open the new formats with OpenOffice now that the structure is open.

I guess, well, I honestly can't say that home users really need all the features that come with the full Office suite. I suppose that Outlook is pretty nice, I guess now with Outlook Express being killed off and replaced by Windows Mail, that I might recommend Outlook's refined results for a home user but only if it came OEM. Not with OpenOffice, Thunderbird, and a bunch of other email clients available.

With a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
