in a time when greedy folks who've designed 'crap' (can i use that word?), designed 'malware', 'bad stuff' out of wonderful client-side scripts, such as javascript, design such to take advantage of the unaware - causes most folks to block just about all client-side scripts > even wonderful benign scripts. . .  and they'll never see the creativity and hard work some have put into good scripts - to create original and fantastic webpage effects and behavior ------ oh well. . .

----------------
side-note:

on the WWW client-side scripts refer to scripts that actually get downloaded (most always automatically) to a website visitor's computer - once downloaded they can do theier thing and go to work - javascript and vbscript are client-side scripts.

php and asp are server-side scripts - that is they 'do their thing' on the server and then give the results to the website's visitor (aka "client").
----------------

now back to point. . .

in such times, some designers knowing they have little chance of getting a client to allow even the most benign client-side scripts to be downloaded and ultilized have actually turned to CSS ---- using as much as they can squeeze out of all CSS can do --- to an amazing level too --- a level so dramatic that i almost feel the CSS can also be deemed a "Dynamic Language" - and actually amost fits within this category (within this forum) >>> Almost. . .  Cheesy

Perhaps but, well, most people will want to run with the common definitions. Silly people and their desire to communicate effectively by using words/phrases that mean the same thing to the same people! *chuckles*

We do, though, beat it to death (abuse perhaps?) in order to get extended functionality out of it. As much as I dislike Wikipedia... ThisWiki should take you to their article.

excellent find!

i don't think i've seen so many good examples in one place - usually you find some here and some there. . .

yes - technically CSS is not a dynamic language - it seems that dynamic languages all have the capability to effect, or even rewrite, the HTML being viewed - but as you can see CSS has a kind of inherent dynamic within it's static nature, and it is this that being heavily explored causing it to 'bleed' over and cover (even replace) many things that client-side scripts are typically known for. . .

it might actually lead to CSS3 < a new dynamic CSS < only seems logical - many times i've wanted to take CSS just a little farther than it was capable - perhaps the future will accommodate. . .

It was ironic in that I happened to find it at Digg the next day. Good stuff really. Be careful though, someone will come along and figure if it has rounded edges it is "web 2.0" which is a phrase best followed by the roar of a shotgun if you ask me.

I think that it, as a phrase, is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard up to and including AJAX. The pundits run around thinking that these things are somehow new when, in fact, they're not and - honestly - the internet wasn't invented yesterday. I have reached my buzzword limit for one lifetime I think. I am pretty sure that after so many buzzwords you just snap and kill someone.
